A mobile bidding silent auction is an effective way to raise funds. Bidders compete to win their preferred items within a specific time frame after organizers declare the winners, receive payment, and make arrangements for shipping and delivery.

There are two ways that bidding is conducted at a silent auction.

The first is through bidding sheets that are placed in front of each item on display. These sheets have 10 to 15 rows and bidders, after inspecting the items write their bids on each row. No auctioneer is calling out bids and hence this type of auction is known as a silent auction. At the end of the scheduled period, the bidding sheets are checked and the winners declared



Mobile bidding silent auction has taken silent auctions to the next level. Auction attendees have to download software on their Internet-enabled devices such as a smartphone or tablet. The items for auction are displayed on the websites and can be seen through the software.

A bidder can participate in real-time by placing bids as the auction progresses. The alternative in a mobile bidding silent auction is to set a maximum bid in the software that will continually bid on behalf of the participant until the set price is reached.

The silent auction process is simplified to a great extent by mobile bidding and also results in higher bids. This is mainly because the participant is not rushed to place a bid and can do so at leisure and convenience (within the auction schedule). Studies have shown that mobile bidding silent auction brings in bids that are on an average three times more than that of bidding sheets.
